Last Minute Scramble

I recently signed up to sell cards at a local boutique. At the time I agreed to do it I had a full stock of cards and plenty of time to continue making more. I was confident I would have plenty of fun stuff to sell. Then last week a lady at my church said she wanted to look at my cards. I knew that she used to make cards often and I honestly thought she just wanted to talk about it and perhaps critique my cards. To my surprise she ended up buying close to 30 cards!! It was a lovely surprise and I was thrilled for her business. The problem is that now I have a boutique this Friday and not nearly the amount of cards I was hoping to have! I have been trying hard to spend every waking moment in my craft room stamping, coloring, and stamping some more, but my health has also decided to turn against me and has been pretty rough the past two weeks. Making cards when I am sick and in pain is not the easiest thing in the world. I have been doing my best to push through it and get as many cards done as I can. I just worry that it is too much work in too little time with a body that doesn't want to cooperate. I have no idea how this boutique is going to go. Wish me luck!!

Here is a fun Christmas card I made today. I used a few stamp sets for Stampin' Up for this one. I love the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set. It adds a lot of personality to a card and is great for fast card making since the point is to look grungy and not perfected!

Alright, back to the craft room. My blogging break is over. If anyone needs me I'll be buried under a pile of ribbon cutting, coloring, stamping, gluing, embossing, and then doing it all over again!

Back to Posting!

Guess who is finally feeling well enough to be crafting again?!? I had some problems come up with my health that has put me down for a few weeks, while I still have my bad days I am back in the craft room stamping and coloring up a storm!

Here is an example of what I have been working on:

A lot of sympathy cards I have made in the past are very muted in their coloring. I have stuck with black and white, as well as very light greens and blues. However, sometimes our grieving needs some color as well. We need to feel the brightness to pull us out of our dark holes of mourning. This card is bright enough to send a message of hope and also classy enough to send a message of understand and sympathy...perfect for anyone going through a loss. I used a couple of different stamp sets for this one including 3 by Stampin' Up: Gorgeous Grunge, Flower Shop, and Betsy's Blossom.

This card is the perfect pick me up for someone going through a hard time. Isn't this bear just the most adorable thing you've ever seen?!? He is from Deedee's Digis, so cute I can hardly stand it!

Tara's Card

Happy Sunday everyone, I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend. I'm not feeling well enough to attend church today so I thought I would post a card for you.

One of the leaders of my sisters special needs mutual group recently underwent knee surgery. Tara has been very concerned for her. Yesterday she came to me and asked if we could make a get well card to mail to her. Of course I agreed. I wanted this to be Tara's card so I let her pick out the image, sentiment, and paper. I then colored the image and helped her put the actual card together. I was pretty impressed with the way it turned out! Tara was so excited about it she couldn't wait to get it in the mail.

We used an adorable image from Great Impressions called "A Band-aid from Muzzy" and the sentiment is from Stampin' Up's Tag It stamp set. Didn't she do a great job of picking out the paper and everything! I think I just found myself a card maker assistant!

Crafting with Friends

I can be found sitting at my craft desk more hours in the day than is probably sane for a person. However, that is where I find my sanity. Crafting is one of the things that brings great joy to me and my family. Me because it relaxes me relieves my stress, and I enjoy it...my family because it keeps me from taking my stress out on them! As much as I love spending my time crafting there is one thing that makes it better...crafting with friends. Last night a good friend of mine came over and we spent hours chatting and crafting together. It was heavenly! Although I'll admit we ended up talking a lot more than crafting! Good friends make everything better!

Here is one of the cards I made at our little girls craft night. I was excited to play with my new stamp set from Stampin' Up, this is the Festival of Trees set from their holiday catalog. I also added in some fun Christmas scrap paper I had. I love the way it turned out! All these Christmas cards are really getting me in the spirit of Christmas!

"Mawage"

"Mawage is wot bwings us togeder today" Oh how I love the Princess Bride and it's classic lines! Weddings are special times both for the couple getting married and for the close friends and family of the couple. Today I have created an elegant wedding card that would be the perfect addition to any gift you are giving the happy couple.

Christmas Cards?

I know that no one wants to hear about Christmas when we haven't even had Halloween yet. However, I started playing around with my Christmas stamps this week trying to gear up for this years Christmas card sales. I'll admit that one day I did turn on some Christmas music while I crafted. My family thought that was taking it a bit too far!

What kind of Christmas cards do you usually purchase? Nativity scenes or Santa and reindeer scenes? Maybe a mixture of both?

This nativity card was made using Stampin' Up's Newborn King stamp set.

Don't you love the cute little snowflake embellishment up at the top?
Super cute and easy card for you here.

Name That Artist!

Who likes to play games? I am always up for a good game and today I have one to announce for you! I am a guest designer for Imagine That...digi's by Kris, and as usual this week each of her designers have created a card using her October release images. Here's the twist...this week none of us put our watermark on our cards. Kris has posted pictures of each card and whoever can match each designer with the correct card will be entered into a drawing to win all of the October images!! How awesome is that!

Head on over there and play along!

Happy October!!!

I love that I live in a world with Octobers! It is such a beautiful and cozy month, don't you think? It seems that every month is an awareness month for something. Well, October is a month that focuses on two things I think are super important. One is lesser known and that is Down Syndrome Awareness. This one is very close to my heart since my little sister has Down Syndrome. Her dance group (all people with special needs) is celebrating by putting on a fun performance the end of the month. They are very excited about it!

October is also Breast Cancer Awarness month. Unfortunately this is a disease that seems to touch all of our lives in some way. Cancer of any kind is a horrible illness and those battling it need our support in any way we can give. In honor of BCA I have created a fun card using this month's progressive challenge image from Imagine That...digi's by Kris. She has some wonderful images she'll be adding this month. You should definitely check them out! I also used a sketch from Sketch Saturday for this card.

I hope you all have a wonderful first day of October...go hug someone with breast cancer and/or Down Syndrome today!!

White Christmas

It is a cold rainy day in my neck of the woods. I love the rain! However, as the weather turns colder I know that the dreaded snow is on it's way. I am not a fan of the cold. I hate having to scrape the snow off my windows before I can go anywhere, not to mention driving in the snow. I also hate when snow gets dirty in the driveway, roads, etc. It makes the world look dingy and dreary! The only good thing about snow is the magic it brings to Christmas time. There is nothing better than a white Christmas. I love opening up the curtains and watching the snow softly fall while the family surrounds the Christmas tree opening up each gift...best backdrop ever!

Knowing that winter will be on my doorstep soon, I decided to make a few Christmas cards to celebrate the good part of snow! I used Stampin' Up's White Christmas stamp set for these. As well as an Inkadoo Christmas Greetings stamp set for an inside message. The inside of the first card reads, "...And Sending Every Good Wish For The Coming New Year". The inside of the second card reads, "Wishing you Peace on earth, Love in your hearts, Joy in all your days"

Busy Weekends

Wow, time has gotten away from me recently! The past two weekends have been crazy busy.

Yesterday I attended the Chiari Walk Across America in support of chiari awareness and research. It was a fun day mingling with fellow chiarians and feeling of their support. The worst part of having an incurable chronic illness is feeling all alone in it. It was nice spending the morning with people who get it!

For any who are new to my blogs and/or don't know what Chiari is, it is a serious neurological disorder where the bottom of the brain, the cerebellum, descends out of the skull and crowds the spinal cord, putting pressure on both the brain and spine causing many symptoms. Some of the most common symptoms include: sever headaches, vision impairment, hearing loss, ringing in the ears, extreme pain in neck and shoulders, extreme fatigue, and weakness in arms and legs. Chiari has a wide range of diverse symptoms and affects everyone differently. I have personally suffered from this illness for the past 15 years. It is a daily battle! For more information on chiari go to conquerchiari.org

Here are just a few pics from the walk today.

Now on to cards...

Last week I was out of town to do a workshop for my non-profit organization. The workshop went so well! We had 56 beautiful young ladies join us and make it a huge success. Once we were back home I decided I wanted to send a few thank you cards to my fellow directors. I had a lot of fun making a quick set of cards using Stampin' Up stamp set Oh, Hello. I love the option for variety on this one. You could do it in just about any color and have it look fabulous!

Thanks for visiting today and I hope your weekends have been a bit more relaxing than mine have been lately!!

Fall Thanks

I have another Fall card to show you today. I'm using an image from Gerda Steiner Designs. It's September's progressive challenge image of a boy with a cart full of pumpkins.

I loved this image the second I saw it, because it reminded me so much of my childhood. Every year my father would plant a HUGE garden. Since the garden was so big he would give me two rows to plant whatever I wanted. The rule was I had to do all of the work, but in the end I could do whatever I wanted with what I grew. One year I chose to plant pumpkins. I worked hard weeding and watering them. Finally harvest day came. I picked all my beautiful pumpkins, loaded them in a wheelbarrow and pulled them up the driveway next to the sidewalk. Next I dragged a picnic table up and set a few of my best looking pumpkins out on the table. I then held up a poster board sign with crayon writing announcing that the "Best Pumpkins Ever" were now for sale! I don't recall how much money I made, but I sat out there for hours each evening trying to sell pumpkins to passerby's. It is one of my favorite childhood memories of Fall.

Fall...Best Season Of All

Kids are heading back to school. The weather is chilling a bit more each day. That crispness in the air can only mean one thing....Fall is on it's way.

I enjoy living in a state where I get to experience all four seasons...although when I'm shoveling the ten feet of snow in the driveway I seriously wish I lived in the Bahamas! There is something I enjoy from every season. I enjoy putting on my warmest sweater, fixing me some hot chocolate, and curling up to watch the snow fall outside the window each winter. I love the breath of new life that comes each spring as flowers and tree blossoms bring vibrant colors after a season of gloomy grey skies. Summertime is filled with fun. It is a time filled with travel and adventure. It's the season of camping and boating, family and fireworks, watermelon and smores, drive-in movies and concerts at the park. Then comes fall my favorite season of all!

Fall seems to quiet us down after a hectic summer of fun. It brings us back to our senses and helps us refocus on the important things. Fall is a season of beauty as the leaves change color and God turns the mountain side into His canvas.

I have been busy making some fun fall cards lately to celebrate the season. I love this image from Imagine That...digi's by Kris and thought it would make the perfect fall card.

I'm also entering this card in the following challenges:
2 Cute Ink Challenges - Anything Goes
Creative Corner Challenge - Cutsie Animals
Crafting From The Heart - Anything Goes

On another note, my official business cards arrived in the mail this week! Watch for my Etsy store to be opening soon!

Birthday Kitty

I love celebrating birthday's! In my opinion everyone should extend the celebration and have a birthday week! I definitely did that this year. I saw Wicked, went to a Danielle Bradbury concert, and went to dinner with family all on different days during the week...then spent the weekend playing at Bear Lake! Birthday weeks are the best!

My sweet Savannah is turning 8 in a few weeks. She is pretty excited! It's definitely great to be eight! I created a card for her using the Birthday Kitty digi from Imagine That...digi's by Kris. Sav is a big fan of kitten's so it is perfect for her. I especially loved the sentiment that went along with it. She'll get a kick out of that!

I thought the little starburst embellishments at the bottom were a fun touch, as well as the popped up balloon for dimension. I'm using the sketch from this weeks Mojo Monday sketch challenge for this card.

Hope you like the card and that you extend your next birthday to an entire week!!

Merci

I confess I have a huge obsession with Paris. I have never been there, but it is the number one thing on my bucket list. In the meantime I have Paris decor throughout my house and am taking french lessons. I also watch the movie Sabrina on a frequent basis because as Audrey Hepburn says, "Paris is always a good idea".

Today's card display's my love of Paris with an image of the infamous Eiffel Tower. I made it very simple. I wanted to stick with the feel of chic elegance and not add a lot of unnecessary bling. In the end you have a simple yet classy thank you card.

Baby Girl

A dear friend of mine had a baby this week, an adorable baby girl. With the birth of this little one she now has three children under the age of 2! She definitely has her hands full. I wanted to make her a card and let her know that she is not alone and has the help of friends when being a mom is just a bit too much to handle.

I decided to use this weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch for the card. I added some dimensionals behind the onesie to help it really pop off the page. The inside of the card is stamped with a sentiment that reads "Sending happy thoughts for a happy occasion".

Coloring

Ever since I was a child I have loved to color. Coloring relieves stress, calms nerves, and opens up my creative mind. When I'm making a tough decision I almost always do it while coloring because my thoughts are so much clearer.

Here are a couple of fun cards I put together using images I'd colored.

The inside of this one reads:
"Congratulations on the arrival of your new little angel"

The inside of this one reads:
"Happy is the heart that holds a friend"

Playful Dolphins

Dolphins are among my favorite animals. Nothing says happy quite like watching dolphins play in the water. Someday I hope to be able to fulfill a lifelong dream by actually getting in the water and swimming with a dolphin.

I chose a super cute digi stamp from Imagine That! for today's card. I also chose to follow this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch from The Sweetest Thing. My sweet neighbor gave me the cute sea shell embellishments and I couldn't wait to use them on this card.

Generic Card

Sometimes I like have generic cards on hand for when something comes up and I don't have time to craft a card specifically for the occasion.

This card is a quick simple card that I made using Stampin' Up's Betsy's Blossoms stamp set. I love the simplicity of this card and how quickly you could add a sentiment beneath the leaf for any occasion.

Wedding Invitations

Whew!

I just finished my first big job since starting my card company. A co-worker of my mother's asked me to create her wedding invitations based off of a card I had made for a wedding reception. She needed thirty-five invitations with a postcard insert to RSVP for the reception, as well as ten inserts for invites to the actual ceremony. I had so much fun making these and learned a lot along the way.

Giving It A Whirl

Hello, my name is Tiffany. Nice to meet you.

Now that we've got the awkward greeting out of the way I am excited to jump on this bandwagon of creative blogs.

I have recently taken up the hobby of card making and am loving every minute of it. I find so much joy in creating something out of nothing. I am working on opening my own Etsy shop, TiffsCornerCreations, and thought that having this blog would be helpful as well.

I am looking forward to sharing my creations with you as well as linking to other blog challenges that fuel creativity and awesomeness!

Let the adventure begin!!
